Cowhides are very easily cared for. Simple soap and water applied carefully on a sponge will cover most problems. Your cowhide may also be steam cleaned. If stained, the hide should be sponged immediately, taking care not to apply too much pressure as it may damage the delicate hairs. It is best not to soak your cowhide, but to apply water sparingly.

In cases of more serious stains or spillages, consult a carpet specialist. They will use special methods that minimize shrinkage, discolouration and changes in texture. It is recommended that any matching pieces be cleaned together, to maintain a uniform appearance.
