Sassy Vaca was conceived as a result of two great passions, travelling and interior design. I have studied many areas of the arts, gaining a masters in fashion with textiles, but have tried my hand at almost every art form, from digital imagery to sculpture. It is this fascination for all things design related, which makes me love the richness and potential of cowhides.

I first fell in love with cowhides about 6 years ago when I bought my first one in Budapest, which although smelt dreadful, came home to be given pride of place in my living room. A more recent trip to Latin America found another one in my suitcase, this time to be used as upholstery for a beautiful antique oak armchair. These hides are supple enough to be used for a wide range of upholstery and soft furnishings, as well as the traditional floor or wall coverings.

Subsequent trips to Argentina invariably involved requests from friends for hides. At the point where a container was necessary, rather than a suitcase, Sassy Vaca was born.

Due to the placement of great contacts in Buenos Aires and their local knowledge we have succeeded in finding the best tanneries. They use the most advanced chrome tanning methods, which ensure minimal moult and a more durable hardwearing product. Thanks to the Argentineans great love of steak , it also means they offer a wide range sizes, patterns and colours!
